The Glenlivet Enigma is a limited edition of Glenlivet Single Malt Scotch Whisky, made from barley sourced from Crisp Maltings in Port Gordon, Scotland. The barley is fermented in wooden washback’s for two days, imparting a distinctive floral quality. The whisky is then distilled twice, first through The Glenlivet’s wash still and then through The Glenlivet’s spirits still. The copper-pot stills, designed by George Smith, encourage contact between the whisky and copper, stripping it of impurities and providing a lighter, purer flavor profile. The distillery’s wooden washback’s are more difficult and expensive to maintain compared to stainless steel washback’s.
