Description
Woodford Reserve is a Kentucky Straight Malt Whiskey made from 51% malt and aged in new charred oak barrels, making it a popular choice for bourbon drinkers. This whiskey is rich, complex, and amplifies the nutty characteristics of the original Woodford Reserve. Introduced in May 2018, it is part of Distiller’s Select family, including Straight Bourbon and Straight Rye Whiskeys. Made from a mash bill of 51% malted barley, 47% corn, and 2% rye, Woodford Reserve is made in the same way as other Distiller’s Select whiskeys, except for aging in new, charred American oak barrels. It is bottled at 90.4 proof, making it a unique and flavorful addition to the Distiller’s Select family.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Quite thick and creamy. There are notes of honey and spice, leather, a touch of cocoa, a little smoke, toasty oak and vanilla cream with a hint of butterscotch.
Taste: Thick and full. There are notes of espresso beans, winter spice, cereal sweetness, plenty of rye, ground ginger, almond oil, toasty oak and a little rum.
Finish: Long and mature with notes of cereals and toasty oaken spice.
