Description
Dr. Bill, head whisky master for Glenmorangie, describes the Astar Highland Single Malt as made from slow growth, air-seasoned, heavily toasted, lightly charred, ex-bourbon, American oak barrels. Estimated to be 9-10 years old, it offers more dynamism than the standard 10-year-old, with spicy, creamy, and warm notes that have made it a favorite among many.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Honeycomb and caramel, with a hint of peaches in syrup underneath.
Taste: Touches of nutmeg and ginger bring the heat to the palate. Still rich in honey’d malt, joined by toasted pecan and hazelnut cream.
Finish: Salted fudge, vanilla ice cream (a hint of ice cream cone, too) and mint leaf.
