Irish whiskey is considered smooth, juicy and triple distilled. Many of them are, but that is not the whole story. The Irish are widely considered to be the first whiskey distillers, although the Scots strongly dispute this. Established in 1608, Bushmills Distillery is the world’s oldest licensed distillery. The Irish are unique in their pure sparkling whiskey.

Irish single pot whiskey is a blend of malt and other distilled barley. Unmalted barley offers a spicy freshness with Irish whiskey. Some Irish blends are global hits, Bushmills Original and Jameson are both notable examples. There is also a healthy selection of single malts, including most from Bushmills, Tyrconnell and Connemara.

In the last 20 years double malts and Turkish malts have been reintroduced and re-emerged and now. a thriving single pot still Irish whiskey style. Many new distilleries are also being built as Irish whiskey continues to be the fastest growing spirit category in the world!
